Steps of Protection to Help Ensure Your Confidentiality |
We believe that you have the right to be confident that your identity will not be disclosed when you participate in the Tax Whistleblower Reward Program. Therefore, we are committed to providing to you the following Steps of Protection to help ensure your confidentiality:
Attorney-Client Privilege - We are a law firm. All information provided to us is protected by the Attorney-Client Privilege, which is recognized on both a state and federal court level. All communications between a client and the client's attorney are protected from discovery even in a court of law.
Pseudonym - Our office procedure is to provide you with a pseudonym (a false name) so that there can be no inadvertent disclosure. The association of your name with your pseudonym name will be kept in a safe deposit box by the attorney with whom you are working. This safe deposit box is accessible only by the managing partners of the law firm.
Secure E-Mail Address - We will assign, unless you choose otherwise, an email address from a secure domain (Hushmail.com) so that you do not have to provide any information that would identify you personally in the course of setting up the email address and so that your emails are safe from detection, theft, or unauthorized access.
Limited Means of Communications - All communications between this firm and you will be to the email address agreed upon, unless you direct otherwise.
Electronic Payment - Payment will be made electronically so as to reduce a paper trail of payment to you for the information.
Warning Label - All information provided to the IRS that could possibly be traced back to you will be submitted with a warning label as follows: "DO NOT COPY – INFORMANT INFORMATION". This will prevent the IRS from inadvertently copying and disclosing confidential information.
Difficulty in Copying - All information provided to the IRS that could possibly be traced back to you will be submitted on reflective paper/bright paper to make copying difficult. This will prevent the IRS from inadvertently copying and disclosing confidential information.
Notice - Throughout the process, and no less than quarterly (on a calendar basis), we will put the IRS on notice that the information provided through this program may jeopardize the individual providing the information with respect to his physical safety, license (law license, CPA, etc.), and/or employment.
Forfeiture of Fees – We are serious about protecting your confidentiality. As a final Step, in the unlikely event that there occurs an unauthorized disclosure by the IRS or by any personnel of this office, we will forfeit any fees to which we may be entitled under the Tax Whistleblower Reward Program Contract.
