Whether or not you choose the former IRS attorneys at our law firm to represent you in the Tax Whistleblower Reward Program, please review the list of documents provided below. You can print these documents and use them to assist you in finding the best attorney to represent you. The documents are as follows:
1. Questionnaire – Things to Think AboutWe have put together a list of (minimum) questions with respect to you and your case that you will want to discuss with your attorney prior to providing information to the IRS. By discussing the answers to these questions with a potential attorney, you will be able to determine (i) if you wish to proceed with a case as part of the Tax Whistleblower Reward Program and (ii) if the attorney with whom you are dealing is the best attorney to represent you. Your attorney should (i) protect your identity, (ii) work to ensure that your case will be accepted by the IRS, and (iii) take all steps to maximize your reward. 2. Steps to Protect Your IdentityAlthough all attorneys "say" they are interested in preserving your confidentiality and in protecting your identity, some have committed acts that are inconsistent with this goal. A press release by an attorney who represents clients in the Tax Whistleblower Reward Program is antithetical to protecting a client’s identity. For this reason, we have a firm policy against issuing press releases. Even a seemingly innocuous press release regarding a particular case may contain subtle information that could increase the risk of exposure for the client. We care about the anonymity of our clients, and we guarantee confidentiality in every case. Thus, for all clients, we take Steps of Protection to preserve the client’s anonymity. We are constantly evaluating these steps and adding to them. Our goal is to protect your identity. These Steps of Protection are attached as Exhibit A to our Standard Tax Whistleblower Contract.
In addition, we continually accept recommendations that the whistleblower can engage to protect his/her own identity. We quickly add to and modify this list in the best interests of the whistleblower, whether or not our client. 3. Sample Standard Tax Whistleblower ContractSome attorneys will be more interested in marketing their services to you than in providing fair and full representation in your case before the IRS in the Tax Whistleblower Reward Program. We recognize that the sample Standard Tax Whistleblower Reward Program Contract may need to be modified based upon negotiations between you and the attorney and the state in which you reside; however, this sample contract is attached for you to use.
